| POSITION SUMMARY |
The Youth Counselor organizes and leads the youth activities, ages 3-17 years, in designated activity centers, assigned areas and throughout the vessel. |
| ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):** - KPIs assigned to position/department. **Operational Effectiveness:** - Stays “above the line" and accepts ownership for achieving results in all areas of accountability, including SGI, ratings, revenue, and Workplace Safety. - Ensures all operating standards and procedures are executed consistently. - Is present in operational areas during key periods – 80% of time is on floor. - Effectively plans departmental activities including cruise grids, events, and promotional activities. - Ensures all areas are clean, USPH compliant, and visually appealing at all times. - Ensures all equipment is properly repaired and maintained. - Maintains adequate products, including food, beverage, and supplies, at all times. - Upholds Brand Service, Safety, Environmental, and other company policies and standards. **People Skills:** **Interpersonal Effectiveness:** - Stays “above the line" and accepts ownership for achieving results in all areas of accountability, including SGI, ratings, revenue, and Workplace Safety. - Acts as a role model and positive ambassador for Celebrity Cruises. - Resolves conflict with fact-based communication. - Fosters team unity and inspires commitment to Celebrity Cruises. - Collaborates well across the organization. - Assists in training all crew, including new hires. **Modern Luxury:** - Knows and is accountable for executing brand standards at all times. - Ensures guest-facing communication is professional, on brand, and visually appealing. - Acts as a role model and positive ambassador for Celebrity Cruises. - Exhibits professional presence, positive energy, and passion in all situations. - Brings out the best in the team through authenticity, care, and humility. |
| QUALIFICATIONS |
Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience working with large groups of youths ages 3 -17 years, preferably in an upscale hotel, resort or cruise ship. Experience working in school sponsored youth groups, YMCA, camps or similar positions preferred. Infant and child CPR certification and lifesaving certification from the American Red Cross or similar certifying organization preferred. Able to design creative activities while containing costs. Able to capture and manage the attention of a large group of people with effective and courteous microphone techniques to serve as host or master of ceremonies. Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment to meet overall established time frames for the entire youth recreation operation. Extensive knowledge of facility cleaning procedures with regard to public health standards. Strong communication, guest resolution, decision making, and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree in education, recreation or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent Working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, or related programs. |
